TWELVE.
Do you know what temperature it was in Palau exactly one year ago? One hundred million thousand eleventy degrees with 645% humidity.
I really need to find some middle ground here.
And now, your pictures and distractions:
The Mormons know how to make it feel like Christmas. I can't believe this is right next to my house. |
The Mormon temple from another side. |
More of the Mormon Christmas festivities. |
Mixed fruit drenched in pumpkin spice eggnog. This is the new best thing that I've ever done. |
Warm enough to bike with Paul Cyclemon on the last day of November in what is quickly becoming a not so pretty canyon. Curse you winter! |
Text exchange with Daniel on Thanksgiving. Note: I have never visited Albuquerque. |
Crap to distract you from whatever you're supposed to be doing:
It's time to bring you some Jan Terri "Excuse My Christmas" again! "What do you thiiiiiiink?!" Thanks, Jan.
A Complete Curmudgeon's Guide to "The Sound of Music." Thanks, Francie.
Carol of the Bells sung in meows. Thanks, Lisa.
I cannot believe how much time I just wasted on this. Find the invisible cow. Thanks, Brian.
Amazing Macro-Photography of Individual Snowflakes. Thanks, Jeff.
Responses to wrong number texts (some bad language). Thanks, Jennifer.
Well I'm glad SOMEONE finally took the time to write this book. Thanks, Becca.
Inventions that drive us crazy. Except for the last one. Thanks, Cambry.
British people label the United States. Thanks, Justine.
These GIFs just about made me fall out of my chair. Thanks, Steve.
~It Just Gets Stranger
That first picture is incredible.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the building in the third picture? Is that also a Mormon temple?
ReplyDeleteIt is The Assembly Hall. Another beautiful building on Temple Square used mainly for concerts and special musical performances.
DeleteBy "Mormon Temple" I'm assuming you mean "disney castle"
ReplyDeleteIt's -11F right now where I live with a wind chill that makes it feel like -31F.
ReplyDeleteI'll trade you?
I feel your pain it's -15, feels like -41 where I am! Twelve degrees is a heat wave!
DeleteI hear you! We are sitting at -34C right now!! Yikes almost froze walking from the house to the car.
Delete-34 Celsius?? Are you in Antarctica?
DeleteHaha nope just Canada :-) it gets to -60C where I sadly live. Winter has just started...
DeleteThis is for the cat people. These will come in handy in 12 degree weather! http://www.buzzfeed.com/expresident/109-cats-in-sweaters?s=mobile
ReplyDeleteEli and Lee, it's a disgusting 71 here in Hampton Roads. I'll trade you both for colder temps. It's hard to get in the Christmas spirit with this weather. Perhaps I'll stare at the pictures of the Disney Castle some more.
ReplyDeleteWell that cements it. I'm moving to Utah
ReplyDeleteNorthern Virginia hit 72 yesterday. Today it is rainy, but in the 60s. Tomorrow...it's supposed to drop 40 degrees and ice us. This lack of commitment is very common around DC. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't like eggnog, but any fruit mixture with sweetened condensed milk poured on top sprinkled with brown sugar is delicious. And healthy as well :D
ReplyDeleteUm... you might want to rethink your definition of healthy.
DeleteUh oh. Looks like anonymous 1 forgot to use their sarcasm font
DeleteHow the heck is it warmer in salt lake than it is in Provo? It's five degrees here right now. I need to move.
ReplyDeleteDammit Jan, I watched it a little too long!
ReplyDeleteAlso, it can be colder! Today: MONTANA(where I am) -24, CENTRAL ANTARCTICA -22
DeleteRight? I'm from Montana too...it's elfin cold out there!
DeleteI also watched a little too long. Dammit, Jan!
DeleteWell, Eli, you left the tropics and I am still here - balmy 80 something, 1 zillion humidity and of course, the NE monsoon season meaning more rain than I want to see...pool is useless at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteBuzzFeed never works for me, wish I could see the pix
ReplyDeleteIt usually doesn't work for me either but some how it started working. Look it up if you get a chance on another computer because its hilarious.
DeleteThat first picture is incredible! What are mormon temples for? I've always wondered and have heard different things. I should just ask a mormon like you!
ReplyDeleteAs a Mormon, I can take a shot at it. :) There are some great websites (mormon.org, for example) that can answer all sorts of those kinds of questions. But in short, in the temple we make special covenants with God (promising to do things like obey the commandments, live with chastity, striving to be like Jesus). We do this for ourselves, and we can also do them for and in behalf (by proxy) for those who died without the chance to make those covenants. Things like baptism. Those who passed on have the chance to accept or reject those covenants on the 'other side.' It's a service for those who can no longer do it for themselves.
Delete72.4 outside here in Atlanta, but we're supposed to get an "arctic chill" anytime now.... But, I still think you should move here! Or at least visit. In all your "free time" that us working people have.
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures! I am jealous of your winter wonderland neighborhood. But now my husband is mad at me because I just went and poured his eggnog on my fruit salad. Delicious!
HAHAHA dude I feel you--I live in Rexburg and go to BYU-Idaho and the wind chill was NEGATIVE TWENTY. Gag me. Kill me. So much death. Awful nasty stuff. Keep warm bro.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a girlfriend? ;) Are you dating anyone? How are you not married already?! You are so funny! Such a catch!
ReplyDeleteI love that there are only 8 books left in stock of Does God Speak Through Cats? Someone is buying them.
