So the other day I was in the shower NOT THAT WE KNOW WHAT NAKED IS and the phrase "Strangerhood of the Traveling Snuggie" came to my mind and I was like "why is that not a thing yet?"
Then I realized that I don't know what that thing would be because I've never seen or read the Traveling Pants(?) series(?). I don't know the story or the concept but I think it has something to do with an item of clothing that gets passed around between friends and this makes the people feel closer and then we find out that Snape is Luke's father or something.
By the time I got out of the shower I decided that we should probably do this exact thing. So I'm going to formally launch Strangerhood of the Traveling Snuggie.
The way it will work is this: Anyone who wants to participate should send me an email with their name and address (I promise I won't stalk you more than I already am). I'm going to make a list for my eyes only and then send a Snuggie to the first person on the list. When that person receives it, they are to:
1. Take a picture of someone wearing the Snuggie (feel free to be as creative as you want).
2. Email me that picture.
3. Then I'll email you back an address to send the Snuggie to.
4. Ship the Snuggie to that address.
I want to see how far and wide we can get this thing to go. At the end of it I'll post our results.
If you want to participate, shoot me an email by the end of the week.
~It Just Gets Stranger
If I send you my address do you promise to stalk me more than you already are?
ReplyDeleteI love this idea :)
Not. Possible.
DeleteI am in. Sent you an email.
ReplyDeleteNo washing of snuggie is allowed.
ReplyDeleteAre we allowed to alter or bedazzle it in any way?
ReplyDeleteShould we say you are not allowed to remove anything from the Snuggie but you can add to it?
DeleteI approve of this plan
DeleteSounds good to me!
DeleteI think everyone should add a patch, like hotel stickers on an old steamer trunk, to show where it's been.
DeleteThe Suzzzz I was thinking about crocheting something to sew on it. Sort of paying homage to Eli's knitting lady friends, except not exactly.
DeleteChaun or cross stitch something, be creative. I love smartass cross stitches. I have one that says "Everything happen for a reason, sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices."
DeleteI'll cross stitch on it! Omg omg omg this is probably the best online thing I've ever done.
DeleteEmail sent! So excited to hopefully have some Stranger send me a passed-along Snuggie. I'll feel like Queen for a Day!
ReplyDeleteDude. The nurse in me immediately thought of bedbugs and lice... maybe some ground rules should come with the it re: washing and stuff?
ReplyDeleteOh come on, think of it as an exciting game of Communicable Disease Russian Roulette. Live dangerously...
DeleteI hereby plead anyone who receives the traveling Snuggie to wash the holy hell out of it. Does that work?
DeleteThat makes it sound like this thing needs an exorcism.
DeleteIt's starting with Eli so it probably does...
DeleteI want this to work soooo badly!!! I'm definitely game.
ReplyDeleteMy friends tried to do this with a notebook where we would write a message and then send it on. I sent it on and never got it back, so either someone dropped the ball and it fizzled out or hmm maybe they are still doing it without me . . .
We did this for several years as well! We had a rule that if you dind't send it five days after reciving it, you had to add one chocolate bar per day for the other four people. That kept us in line, because postage would be horrible if we missed too many days.
DeleteI vote that people who are late sending the snuggie on has to provide a treat for the person next in line.
UMMMMMMMM I'm SO in for this!!!
ReplyDeleteshaking head sadly...
ReplyDeleteSuddenly wishing i lived somewhere more exotic and dramatic than Nebraska... where the wind goes whistling through the prairie and it is exactly as romantic as it sounds. I am so excited to live vicariously through this Snuggie. AMY ROSE
ReplyDeleteAmy Rose, the prairie is romantic, open your eyes! I can see it now. You all dramatic in a waving wheat field with the snuggie billowing in the wind. Or maybe even a pose reminiscent of Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth. Oh my gosh, best idea ever...every try to recreate a famous portrait but with a snuggie!
DeleteI agree with The Suzzzz (although whoever disagrees with The Suzzzz, really?). I'm a prairie girl all the way. Mountains, forests and beaches have their version of beauty, but there is something about seeing wide open spaces *cue Dixie Chicks* that fills my heart with so much possibility without limitations.
DeleteSo today on the drive to school, “my” cows were out in their field, and they do make my heart happy. My children call them “mama’s cows” because every time they come out (they go somewhere during the summer, I don’t know where and then show up again every year sometime in the fall. This year it was today!) So it’s true, Suzzzz and Sarah RB, there is such a gentle quiet beauty about a field full of cows that I can’t deny. I do love the prairie. -(Amy Rose, prairie and cow and Snuggie aficionado.)
DeleteOmg I am so in! This is such an amazing idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is freaking hilarious. I feel like I might be too old for such nonsense but....you only live once...
ReplyDeletePlot Twist theories:
ReplyDeleteA serial killer murdered Eli and is using this blog to get the addresses of his followers to murder them as well.
Eli is the serial killer. He started this blog to gain our trust and finally feels like he has it.
I still sent my address.
Everyone, please wash the Snuggie! Also, there should be a no smoking around the Snuggie rule.
Once up the barrel, twice down the side.
HAHAHAHA With or without a plot twist, I still sent my address.
DeleteI would frankly be honored to be murdered by someone with such great hair.
DeleteAs did I. Haha
ReplyDeleteI am so in! AND!! I'm going to read the first book of the series that inspired this epic adventure! (I'll let you all know how it goes!)
ReplyDeleteI read the books when I was younger. Part of the story was the jeans fit all four of the girls perfectly and looked amazing on them even though the girls were all different shapes and sizes. Fingers crossed the snuggie will work this way as well!! 😂
ReplyDeleteQuick question; if we sent our address, was there a confirmation email? Also, I'm trying to figure out the best New Orleans picture... Do I go typical New Orleans, or full-blown swamp dweller? This became so unnecessarily complicated... ^_~
ReplyDeleteHow about something at the Lalaurie house just to creep everyone out?
DeleteI'm so sad that I missed this golden opportunity!
