What are you watching?

We're all binging TV shows and movies right now and that's ok. If there is anyone in your life telling you that is not ok, you should get new people for your life.

I can't imagine what social distancing would be like without streaming. You guys. We would have to read books and talk to each other and stuff.

I've honestly been a little surprised that I haven't been watching really that much more TV in the last few weeks than I was previously consuming. Then yesterday I thought about it and realized it would have been kind of hard to starting watching more than I already was. And that made me a little sad about myself. And empty inside. So I filled that emptiness. WITH MORE TV.

I know y'all are already aware that Meg and I record a podcast called Hive Mind where we talk about what we're watching. Bonus this week, Skylar joined us so we could blab about Survivor. And by "we" I mean "I, while Skylar supportively nodded like a good Stepford wife."

By the way, Meg and Clint Betts are doing these daily live shows from The Beehive, mostly to give Utah updates on COVID-19 stuff. They've been amazing. You can find them at noon on The Beehive's Twitter or Facebook accounts (or watch them after the fact). Sometimes they have me on so I can tell stories, usually about poop or vomit. I was on today. You can find my story below around the 20-minute mark. Sorry my hair looks so great.

Anyway, you guys are always hearing about what I'm watching, so I'd love to hear about what Pandemic content you've been burning through. I'll take any and all recommendations.

(For my part, I'm currently devouring Ozark, Tiger King, Schitt's Creek, and rewatching Fleabag. If you want to know what I think about any of those, feel free to ask because I GOT THOUGHTSSS.)

So, yeah. Hit me. (Not literally. I will sue you. I know an average lawyer.)

And while you stew on that, here's some Duncan punkin and Mr. Ollie Pants.

This one is actually Skylar.

  1. I just finished watching Last Man on Earth which I LOVED!! Rewatching Schitt's Creek with my boyfriend (a first-timer!), wishing we had the final season already - Twitter is killing me. Bob's Burgers. Patiently waiting for the next season of Handmaid's Tale... I should watch the current Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I loved the first couple seasons. Seconding and thirding Fleabag for anyone who hasn't seen it.

  2. Ok listen. I was legit thinking today that I wanted to send you a list of my favorite titles of Asian shows I have watched and have you write a two or three sentence “recap” of the show without ever having watched it just because some of the titles are so epic. PLEASE do all of humanity a solid and consider playing this game with me. Here are some titles of real shows (most I have watched or am planning to start watching SOON) : 1. How Are You, Bread? 2. Gank Your Love. 3. Meow, The Secret Boy and there’s just. So many more. I’m basically begging you here.

  3. I watched one episode of Tiger King and walked away. Not because I'm better than anyone else, but because I have enough mental derangement in my life right now. I might return later.

Instead, I appear to be on a British run. I watched Bodyguard, rewatched the IT Crowd and am current in season 4 of Call the Midwife.

  5. Currently watching LOTS of Frozen 2 and Bluey...because I have three small children and I. NEED. QUIET. For like ten minutes, please. (For the love of all that is holy, PLEASE.)

P.S. Bluey is actually super cute, and quite funny, if you want something wholesome you don’t have to pay close attention to.

  6. Check out How To Fix a Drug Scandal on Netflix. I would love to hear your thoughts as a lawyer!

  7. 21 glorious seasons of cheeky mayhem- Midsomer Murders.

  8. I got a free trial to acorn so I could watch Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. It's ridiculous. Other than that, I watch a lot of YouTube (try guys, good mythical morning, good mythical kitchen). And Schitt's Creek. And High Fidelity.

We have also not been watching much extra TV, but mostly because we don't start watching until more evening time. My husband is watching tiger king and many things star trek.

  9. We're just finished Picard, we're keeping up with Drag Race, and working through Suits. Though I'm getting more annoyed as Suits goes on, because every lawyer is a hammer and they think every problem is a nail.

  10. Love is blind (memes are good post watch), purge (freaky society) the kings letter, the princess weiyoung (subtitles), contagion (eerily similar to current life) nailed it (always a good escape—my kids and I have mini nailed it contests with our baking) Virgin River (love it) A discovery of witches (more detail in books but fun to see it come to screen)

  11. only made it half way through 2nd episode of Tiger King - not sure what all the fuss is about

Locke and Key on Netflix was our last binge. I've turned my mom to the dark side by watching Dr. Pimple Popper on TLC (thru HULU), she still can't fathom why people don't go to the doctor sooner, "because the medical system in the US is broken ma".

If you haven't seen Grace and Frankie, what are you waiting for?? And then the male version is The Kominsky Method with Alan Arkin and Michael Douglas.

    1. I like Zoey a lot, but my husband thinks it's cringey. And of course to Schitts Creek. I need season six!!

  16. Next in Fashion. If you love Tan France (or at least his hair), and watching people use legit magic to sew clothes, then you’ll love this.

  17. Great News on Netflix! It’s a comedy that only has two seasons, so it will go quickly. After the third episode, it is constant laughs! Very fun, similar sense of humor as 30 Rock.

Santa Clarita Diet in Netflix. Normally, Drew Barrymore bothers me, but this show is so silly and hilarious and the cast is great.

Family Tree on Prime Video. It’s a bit slower pace, but it’s quite funny and charming. It’s a British comedy about a man trying to learn more about his ancestors.

  18. Literally *just* finished this current season of Ozark.

And then I came here to say O. M. G.

Is Schitt's Creek available included with a subscription anywhere yet? We've always watched it on Netflix, but I don't think it's carrying the current season yet. And then, for some insane reason, my Google Fiber device decided to record just the finale last night, as it was shown on Comedy Central (so maybe I should blame Comedy Central I dunno), but we haven't seen any of the other episodes from this season yet, so THAT was cruel. I wanna see it so bad!!! (But not bad enough to pay for it on Amazon. I can wait. If my internet provider and a random channel that only shows finales can get their crap together, anyway!)

  19. Atypical on Netflix is so sweet and SO good if you want a feel good show. I also binged Jane the Virgin. Currently watching Nashville and West Wing!

  20. OBSV - Tiger King.

I actually don't have time to binge more than normal because I'm FREAKING BUSY! Seriously - we got the order to work from home and moved our Spring quarter online and my work QUADRUPLED! Hopefully after drop/add ends next week I can sink into the couch for some mindless entertainment. However, I am still watching at my normal rate working my way through my normal watch list. We've run through most of the shows my husband and I watch together so we recently started binging on Worst Cooks in America - seriously - if you need to laugh (and we ALL need to laugh more right now) - it's great! And even if you're only a mediocre cook like me - it will make you feel darn good about yourself!

My "to watch" list is HUGE - but here are a few that haven't been mentioned:

    Halt and Catch Fire
    Killing Eve
    Shrill
    Billions
    Outlander
    Why Women Kill
    My Boys
    Little Fires

  23. Undone on Amazon. And for some unknown reason I can't figure out, I'm strangely drawn to Dolly Parton's Heartstrings on Netflix.
