Change

Ok nobody panic but I changed some stuff. I know. I know. We're not supposed to change things. Change is not a thing we handle. There's a reason we're all still here hanging out on blogger in 2020.

TWO THOUSAND TWENTY YOU GUYS.

But we're all still living in 2006 over here. The only thing that could make this site more 2006 is if I inserted one of those widgets that automatically blasts a Jack Johnson song every time you visit Stranger. Don't worry. I'm not going to do that. Because lazy.

I changed things because our super talented artist at The Beehive, Josh Fowlke, messaged me and was like "you do realize you have like 19 different and conflicting brandings you're using across all of your various projects, right?"

Then he sent me some new images and fonts and I had to go in and do stuff with internet code and dark magic and I think I may have accidentally launched bombs at Thailand at one point but eventually everything ended up looking how it looks now. Which is good. I think. Probably.

I'm so very tired right now. Skylar woke up at negative 3:00 AM screaming. Then he flew out of bed and started running through the house in a full panic. Duncan and I were going to follow him to see what was going on but we didn't because lazy and tired. Eventually he came back into the bedroom, climbed into bed, and whispered "the house is secure."

I still haven't gotten any explanation from him about any of this, but I did lie in bed most of the rest of the night with my eyes wide open trying to figure out if we were more vulnerable to an attack than I've been assuming.

Alas.

I got off topic. The point is, Josh designed the above image and he's really really good at what he does. This week I wrote a story about learning to play the recorder in the fourth grade (bonus, there's vomit) and if you haven't read it yet, you should, but also, you should look at the image Josh designed for it. It is simultaneously freaking me out and making me want to get a nose job.

Lastly, yesterday was Duncan's birthday. In lieu of gifts, he's accepting money.

  1. Corporate Stranger. I do not approve.

I mean, I'm not going anywhere. I'm no quitter. But this isn't the homey, comfy Stranger I'm used to. Its not snuggly. Even tho you had me arrested for snuggling you against your will that one time. But I'm no quitter.

  2. Ok I was very scared to come and see but I like it. It's a change but not a dramatic one (which I'm not emotionally prepared for). Looks professional and matches the Strangerville logo, which I really like.

  3. It looks great! I would love it if you could add little champagne bubbles that float up from my mouse cursor when I'm on the site, though. That would add an extra touch of class.

(no lie, I had a mom ask me to program her website to do that when I was a senior in high school)

    1. Can we please go full-on early 2000s and bring back Geocities? I taught myself how to code html building a Harry Potter website in 2002. I beat Pottermore by like a decade AND I left out the transphobic BS! *hair flip*

  4. I hate to be the barererer of bad news but there's some weird coding issues going on with the comments section.

  5. This is about as much change as I can handle. I liked the goats, but at least the Queen of Colors logo is familiar from the podcast. Phew.

My husband does something similar at night sometimes, but he isn’t searching the house for weak access points. He is searching the bed for spiders. We’ve been married fifteen years, and he has only found beetles once. Never spiders. Thank goodness.

  6. I'm going to miss that goat... But the change isn't as drastic as I thought it would be, and the Queen of Colors logo is familiar, so that helps! Josh did a good job

  7. I've been a fan of Josh's since you started working with the Beehive. Fellow graphic designer here, but what I do is hardly considered document layout compared to his work. He's very talented and unique and I am so jealous and in awe of his skills.

  8. It's going to take some getting used to. It doesn't feel like home yet. But I imagine it'll get there :)

  9. What would Duncan even do with money?
Also you don’t need a nose job with hair like that honey.
Also also the only change I care about is my need for more Tammy.

  10. It’s weird that I know this, because who looks through all the tabs to see what else has changed? Me, apparently, that’s who.

Anyway, your “About” page references the animals tab, which you don’t have anymore. Just a heads up.

The changes look great. Nice work on the html and coding and black magic and such.

  11. After dealing with a very sad 3 year old in the middle of the night, my husband and I fell asleep spooning. In the midst of an intense dream about clothing displays, I heard a violent gagging sound. It was not in my dream, nor was it one of my three children trying to keep me from being a happy human the next day. It was my husband gagging right in my ear IN HIS SLEEP. I freaked and said, "What the heck?!" and all he gave me was "sorry, my finger. . . my mouth . . . in there . . . sorry" and promptly fell back to sleep. WHO GAGS THEMSELVES IN THEIR SLEEP?! I asked him this morning what compelled him to gag himself and he looked like I had grown an extra limb. Husbands are just weird.

  12. I'm not sure if it's because I have to wear trifocals but I can't read this new font properly, it's making me go sort of cross-eyed. I've been fiddling around with my computer and screen etc but I can't make it work. I'm basically now squinting with one eye open...is anyone else experiencing this?
