The Cat Got Locked Out Again

Apparently Daniel has started getting up early in the mornings to go for runs. I didn't know about this until the other day when I was eating breakfast, thinking he was still in bed in his bedroom.  To my surprise, he then came plummeting through the front door. Sure that we were being robbed, I immediately screamed and threw a plastic bowl in his direction.

I have a mild to moderate form of On Edge Syndrome sometimes. Once my old roommate Matt came into our apartment without me hearing. I was carrying a bunch of folded towels into my bedroom when he rounded the corner and said hello. I threw the towels at him and fell to the ground, crippled in fear. I couldn't even get my legs to work well enough to run. Then we laughed for the rest of the day.

And I'm sure we all remember this from my last birthday when the Annas hung a manikin head from my bedroom ceiling and then waited for me to come home:

Anyway, this morning Daniel forgot to take a key with him when he left for his run and as a result he was locked out of the apartment when he got home. Instead of ringing the doorbell like a normal person, he went to an open window and started meowing like a cat to try to get me to get up and let him in. I stayed in bed listening to this, wondering who is this person I live with. Then I decided it would be fun to see how long he would keep meowing before just knocking on the door.

12 minutes.

  1. You know it only makes sense for YOUR roommate to behave like a cat. He thought you'd rather let Trixy in than Daniel.

  2. Daniel should be forbidden to move back to the states until you do. Your entire following will cry as hard as you do, when he leaves. And then he will be single handedly responsible for mass depression. He has a moral obligation to you, and the rest of us, to stay there.

  4. I hate it when people take advantage of my on-edge nature. I grew up with 4 brothers, 3 of whom loved to scare me. Also, my dad encouraged this behavior. It's a wonder that I'm a fairly well-adjusted adult who contributes to society, honestly...

Thank you for sharing your birthday video again; that will never not be funny!

12 minutes, huh? There's so much to love about this entire post...

  5. If he waits for you to sit down and then tries curling up in your lap... You may want to encourage his May departure.

  6. you hate cats, why would he act like a cat? he should have pretended to be a cheesecake or maybe a bowl of borscht if he wanted your attention.

  8. Aw, Daniel's a special one :) Despite what I said in yesterday's post, I genuinely hope that Daniel doesn't leave. I would miss reading stories about him like this. If he comes back to Utah, tell him to come see me in Provo ;)

  10. You don't even want to know how many times I watched that video while laughing hysterically (mainly because that is EXACTLY the way I would react, too). And I had no idea you had a YouTube channel!!! :D Post more videos!!

  11. Thank you, Eli, for diagnosing my condition! I have a severe case of On Edge Syndrome - Even when I know the person is there, if they move too quietly or too quickly, I WILL SCREAM. I don't tend to throw things, I just make a shrieking sound like my limbs are being torn off, and my heart stops for a few seconds...

    1. "On Edge Syndrome"... I like it. I grew up watching the black and white "Psycho" (with chocolate syrup) and we have a cellar at the bottom of the stairs. I learned to jump those stairs so my sister's wouldn't scare me. But they still did when I got up and walked around the corner. GESH!!!

Haven't seen the new "Psycho" I like the good old originals
