Pictures from my Phone & Weekly Distraction

So you may have noticed that the banner on the top of Stranger has changed. And if you haven't noticed, you should probably get some sleep. Because it's very different. And we're worried about you.

Before you start screaming at me about change and how that's not what Strangers are good at, let me be clear: I am not responsible for this. If you want to yell at someone, you can yell at Matt. Go ahead and try it. Look into those seductive, hypnotizing, mysterious, smizing, dreamy green eyes and try to tell him you disagree with what he has done.

How did that go? Not so well? Now you can understand why I have been manipulated into going to Home Depot with him exactly five times a week, every week, for two years despite HATING going to Home Depot.

And now that you forgot what you were initially mad about, your Pictures & Distractions:

Mr. Scraps came for a visit!

I swear to you that Cathie held her grandson Ander's hands and had a five-minute conversation with him as the gazed into one another's eyes. It was the cutest and weirdest thing I've ever seen.
My awesome 84-year-old grandma.

Mr. Scraps!

Mr. Scraps, camouflage.

Mr. Pants, try as he did, just couldn't stay awake all the way through Downton Abbey.

Crap to distract you from whatever you're supposed to be doing:

Dog pants. Oh my gosh weird. Thanks, Jessica.

Did I already share this about the cheese? You guys keep sending it to me. I was, unfortunately, not involved. Thanks, many of you.

A pretty good Making a Murderer theory. Thanks, Eliza.

What happened when a man fired a gun at himself under water. Thanks, Brad.

Tweets about anxiety. Thanks, Diana.

The U.S. map redrawn as 50 states with equal population. Thanks, Tyler.

Why you should be proud to be a Slytherin. Thanks, James.

How to make the ultimate grilled cheese. Thanks, Barbara.

The best airline safety video ever. Thanks, Trevor.

  1. I did notice, and I like it. Without even being hypnotized by Matt's grey-green eyes.

I feel sorry for Mr. Pants. One bad haircut and you go find another dog to love.

    1. Mr. Pants is irreplaceable. I love him with the strength of a thousand hurricanes. And I love Mr. Scraps with the force of 20 earthquakes. These things are not comparable.

    2. Apples and oranges in the comparison world, one might say.

  2. I think that Matt is Dylan McDermott's secret, better looking, little brother from another mother.

  5. Grandma's have a special power with grandsons... It's weird and I don't get it... Especially because it's my mom and my son. I'm quite possessive of him.

  6. "this is an art project, not a serious proposal. So take it easy with the emails about the sacred soil of Texas."

I am definitely a Texan through and through, since I had to stop myself from being so offended that he would change my beloved Texas' boundaries. hahaha

  7. If Matt asked me to go to Home Depot with him, I'd TOTALLY go along; I'd even buy him an iced tea on the way home.

  8. Louie, because of my Southern heritage, I prefer mint sweet tea. .. just for the record.

    1. Nothin' better than a huge pitcher of mint sweet tea waiting in the fridge! Woo-Hoo!

  9. I've been brutally mad at Matt since Mr. Pants' haircut and all of the changes he is pushing on us until that picture. Oh. My. Gosh. I'm now worthless for the rest of the day - maybe even the weekend.

  10. That banner makes me feel like I'm at some kind of Farmer's Blog. It's weirding me out.

    1. Exactly! WHY are we at a Farm now? Do you even know what lives on farms Eli? Animals! and not the cute doggy kind either. The big, Queen of COLORS'SS'S kind. This change is entirely UNacceptable. Why would I want to spend my internet time on a farm? It's almost as bad as CAMPING!

Seriously though, I actually like farms. This blog/your life is not a farm though. Unless you are planning on moving? This banner is Change, and Change is not good. I was not hypnotized by Matt either. Does this prove I am a robot?

  11. First, I love the banner.

Second, other than the ridiculously cute dogs that live at my house, I did not think it was possible to find a dog cuter than Mr. Pants, but...um...and if you tell Ollie I said this I'll totally deny it...but I think Mr. Scraps might have him beat. Holy crap, that dog is cute.

  12. I am just grateful that Tammy is not on the banner.

    1. Why? Why would you even suggest such a thing to Eli? You know how unstable he is.

  13. If Deam Strang doesn't up and reopen the case using that exact theory about the Murderer ordeal, then I guess he isn't the perfect man I imagine him to be, and this isn't even America anymore.

  14. Rather, DeaN Strang. Although I'm sure Deam is a lovely man also.

  15. I get the rooster, but why the goat? Ram? Llama? Whatever that thing is. It should be a barrel!

    1. A barrel. This is good info. You strangers know this blog more than me. There was a goat in the previous banner and so I incorporated it along with the QOC. Perhaps we should have a contest. Tell us what you'd like to see on the banner and based on the best idea (according to Eli and I), I will take and translate that info into a design for the blog. And then you'll just have to love it and stop your dagum complaining about all this change.

    2. *more than I.

I was initially confused as to the goat, like Chia. But then you said this, and it made sense.

But I am confused about the rooster. I know we reference to the QOC with pictures of both sexes of the bird, but isn't she properly a hen?

And, other things that might suit the banner: 1. Paul Simon 2. That one picture of Eli in his bathtub, crying but smiling while making the peace symbol (on his post about a bad breakup) 3. A visual representation, perhaps some cleverly designed symbol, of the Stranger catchphrase "Twice up the barrel, once down the side." 4. NOT TAMMY.

    3. What about The First Eye? Or Leotrix? I miss Leotrix :/ or what about a cat? And you should do the lettering in those alphabet magnets and have it spell weird words

    4. I would love it if you incorporated his world travels into the banner. Maybe a Palauin sunset? Also, could you make a visual character list (maybe off to the side of the blog, not on the banner) I am sure that would help me keep track better when I read Eli's stories.

  16. Eli. You said "smize" I almost died because I was laughing so hard.

  17. Dear lord....... Matt. Omg. *fans self*

  18. I was impressed with Matt's picture (just like any other red blooded American oughta be!!) but I happen to very skilled at not allowing handsome faces to sway my opinion (note: I acquired this skill by painstakingly viewing famous handsome faces on the internetssss ALL OF THE TIME ALWAYS, like David Tennant and Chris Evans)

HOWEVER, I was reading through the comments and Matt said "dagum complaining" and when you combine that with his eyes, well...I have now swore allegiance to Matt. One mint sweet tea coming up sir!

Also, Eli, you're not to be left out in this comment. Just know that your hair is every bit as perfect and amazing as adorable puppies who are sleepy AND cuddly. Amazing writing as always.
