No, we aren't getting married. We don't think the world is ready to come to an end.
Jolyn and I decided that 2016 was going to be the year we finally did something we've been wanting to do for a while. We've started a podcast. And we are super thrilled with it.
Let me be clear: I, Eli Winterberrymille McCann, have no business using Internets or technology. But y'all, I have spent eleventy hundred hours in the last two months learning how to use recording equipment, sound editing software, and learning about things that I didn't even know existed. And let me just tell you, podcasting is the most complicated thing I have ever tried to undertake. AND I FREAKING WENT TO LAW SCHOOL.
And so, with excitement so big you can see it from space, we bring you:

Jolyn and I have completed our first episode of Strangerville and we are really happy with how it turned out. When we sat down a couple of months ago to talk about what we wanted Strangerville to be, we had a come-to-Jesus with one another wherein we vowed not to release yet another podcast to the universe in which two people ramble for one hour about nothing. We are devoted to presenting thoughtful and interesting stories from around the world that will not waste your time. And, although we are still novices at sound editing, we are very happy with how the first episode has turned out.
A few facts about this episode:
1. I wrote and performed the music for it (OMG ELI YOU'RE SO TALENTED! Stop you guys!)
2. We captured stories from four awesome people for this first episode.
3. Jolyn threatened to enter the witness protection program as I had near nervous breakdowns putting this together.
4. My foot disease is back. (This fact isn't really related to the episode, but I thought you might like to know it anyway).
I hope you'll take a listen and enjoy it. AND, I would like to ask you for a favor. Please help us spread the word from Strangerville. If I did things correctly (don't bet on this) you should be able to subscribe to Strangerville on the iTunes here. Or just search for it in iTunes or your Podcast app.
We have more great content coming your way and we are so excited to see where this can go. As has been the case with Stranger over the last four years, Strangerville will be enhanced and made more valuable through your amazing support and participation. So PLEASE share this with others on social media, family news letters, bathroom mirrors, etc. Let's get the word out there.
And so, without further ado:

~It Just Gets Stranger
Is your foot disease ringworm? Because I just acquired ringworm from my disgusting gym and I want to light myself on fire. I might as well have Ebola. I feel like your missing toe nail and your parasite and your foot disease are exactly what I need to feel better about myself.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I'm so excited for this!
ReplyDeleteFun little factoid for you.... I just listened to a doctor I work with tell a patient to be careful. If you have foot disease/fungus etc, you can actually convey it to even worse places, via putting on underwear. Be careful putting your underwear on, Eli!
ReplyDeleteMoriah, you are making the assumption he even wears underwear. Eli has a thing for public nudity and wearing Superman underoos would certainly impede that effort. But it is sweet you are trying to help. :)
DeleteYou make a good point, Mike!
Delete...I'm not able to find it on the iTunes and I would love to subscribe if at all possible.

DeleteIt's still under review at iTunes. I'm told it may be available later today or it may take a few days. I'll let you know as soon as it's available there. Until then, feel free to download and listen here.

ReplyDeleteI think Lee should be on your "Tellin' It Like It Is" award list, Eli.
DeleteParticularly when he removes his comments.
DeleteOop, I should have refreshed before I deleted my post. I wanted to add something to it. Oh well. For those who are wondering I just jokingly said "I hope this doesn't suck" and then asked if he wanted our actual opinion of this podcast, or (this was the addition) did you want the "your hair looks great" opinion, or just no opinion at all. :D
DeleteLee, I always want all of your opinions about everything.
DeleteWhy do I feel like you rolled your eyes at me when you were typing that?
DeleteThis is the best thing you have ever done, including your hair. I loved every second and was a bit sad that it ended.
ReplyDeleteSame. I liked this so much more than I thought I was going to.
DeleteI think that's fair to say, Sandy, because I don't do my hair. The wind does.
DeleteThe wind? I'm so let down. I always assumed it was little butterfly feet that combed your hair.
DeleteWhere do you think the wind comes from?
DeleteI've never listened to a podcast before. I actually managed to get all the way through it and enjoyed it! Maybe I really liked it because I identified: I met my husband on OkCupid and have zero regrets or shame!!
ReplyDeleteGuys, he basically told us that he and Jolyn have contemplated getting married. Just not yet.
ReplyDeleteIn my head I've renamed them Skirnir and Gerd, seeing as how he admitted their marriage is going to signal the end of times. Maybe Fenrir and Loki would be more appropriate.
DeleteVery entertaining!
ReplyDeleteEli, this podcast is SO good! I was really surprised. I hope that isn't offensive. It's just that most podcasts I've heard are boring and not well put together but I was completely entertained the entire time. I LOVE your grandma. I am seriously so impressed with you guys and I can't wait to hear the next episode.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeleteWill you also post podcast on Stranger also?
ReplyDeleteYes--I will post every podcast on Stranger. You'll note above that there is also a new tab devoted specifically to Strangerville. So if you would rather just come to Stranger for access to the podcast, that is totally fine. Once iTunes approves it, anyone who would like to subscribe there will be able to do that as well.
DeleteEli, this is fabulous news. Now I will tell everyone that my friend Eli (as I commonly refer to you) has a fun new podcast to go with the blog! Zig-a-zig, AHHHHH!
ReplyDeleteI like that you are under review with itunes...it's how we feel waiting for our comments to post!
ReplyDeleteOk. Your grandma is my new favorite person who has ever lived. I laughed so hard and just wanted to give her a hug.
ReplyDeleteI loved every second of this but I laughed myself into a coughing fit at the sponsors part at the end.
ReplyDeleteThis podcast is AWESOME. I seriously am so impressed. It's Stranger quality and I am so excited you are doing it. I've been wanting you to do a vlog for a while but this is better. I can listen to it while I run!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhh! I've been waiting for this day for FOREVER it feels like! (: Thank you so much for all off this effort! ^,^
ReplyDeleteWere you Tindering with your grandma in the Salt Lake area? If so, I think I might know Tyler. His description sounds suspiciously like a friend of my husband's who was also in our singles ward.
ReplyDeleteFunny - I was thinking the first man G-Mac described as having dated, the Coupon guy, sounded like my father in law. If she met him at a dance it's totally possible, that's where he stalks his prey!
DeleteYou grandmother is a doll, she's so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou changed your blogpost title and it had me all hopeful you had posted a new post.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Chava. Just tinkering to try to fix some iTunes bugs. But we are actively working on episode 2!
DeleteSo, I knew of Jolyn from your blog posts, but I'm pretty sure now I want to be best friends with her! She's awesome! I loved your podcast!
ReplyDeleteThis is terrific Eli. Really enjoyed it. Thx for involving GMac. Dad
ReplyDeleteThere's a lady at my church who I was reminded of while listening to your grandma they're both quite witty and spry! I'd imagine they would be pretty good friends and could swap stories
ReplyDeletePlease tell me the podcast will not replace the blog! I don't have an hour to listen to a podcast and live the 10-15 break from reality that is reading IJGS.
ReplyDeleteMomma would never leave you. But seriously, listen to the podcast. You can do it for 10 to 15 minutes at a time.
DeleteOh my gosh. I was so excited you created a podcast I nearly teared up. Sometimes really useful websites ask for donations to help them with operations, and I'm like, "mmm maybe. Actually, if Wikipedia used .gifs, I would donate, but they don't, so on second thought, I'm not going to donate." But if you did that on your page, I would donate my entire 401k.
ReplyDeleteChantel, I just quit my job and bought a bunch of shoes on credit based on this comment alone.
DeleteWell thank you for making me feel all the feels today at work with G MAC. What a beautiful love story.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! I haven't listened yet, but it's downloaded and as soon as I finish this phone call I'm on, I'm going to check it out.
ReplyDeleteNice!
