Pictures from my Phone & Weekly Distractions

Last week Brianne was lecturing me about love languages because she said that I need to be better at understanding how to work with people and she suggested that if I knew people's "love languages" I would have some success in this. This seemed like a strange lecture because I thought I was working just fine with people. Then I realized that the whole reason for the lecture was so she could say, "for example, your love language is telling people what to do and just getting your way all the time."

No matter how many times I try to remind Brianne that the nature of our professional relationship is one where I am supposed to ask her to do things and she is supposed to do those things, she refuses to not criticize me for "being bossy."

  1. In the picture of Jolyn is that a fan with light bulbs instead of blades? Because I would definitely buy that if it existed.

    1. now that you describe it that way, yes, that's exactly what it was, AND they had TWO of them.

    2. That's what it is--except it's not a working fan (it doesn't spin at all). I want eleventy of them for my house.

  2. Who’s the dog in the second photo between Mr. Pants and Duncan?

  3. It just occurred to me for the very first time ever that the phrase, the accusation toward someone of “being bossy” comes from treating people like you are their boss. Mind blown. Thanks, Brianne and Eli.

  4. I watched that Office episode a couple days ago (my absolute favorite episode, just above Michael grilling his foot), and since then I've had Hunter's song stuck in my head. So the article didn't help in that regard, but was a great read otherwise.

    1. Same! I watched it the other day and have had the song stuck in my head! This is one of my favorite episodes. I think my absolute favorite is the one with Pam's art show and almost nobody attends and Pam is feeling really sad about it and then Michael Scott shows up right at the last minute and gawks over her drawings and tells her he's proud of her OMG IS IT GETTING DUSTY IN HERE and then hangs the picture she drew in the office. I also think the series finale was nearly flawless.

    2. That is a really good one, makes me just want to punch Roy (as does any episode with him). I may or may not be rewatching the series on Netflix instead of cleaning my house lately.
